Hôtel
Installation & Sound Design – 2021
This work was created following the closure of a refugee immigrant center on Boulevard Ney, leading to the sudden disappearance of the many depending on it. The feeling of being unable to react, and unable to even psychologically integrate this situation, led to the creation of this immersive installation, which confronts the viewer with the traces left by the disappeared. Over a period of several weeks, I collected abandoned clothes from around the site and carefully cleaned them, implying an old-fashioned act of response and a sense of powerlessness in the face of this situation. This act culminated in the work Hôtel, which displayed over a hundred of these tidied and folded garments.
