Érrance
Errance is the title of a photographic project depicting abandoned clothing found on the sidewalks of Boulevard Ney in northern Paris. Following the closure of a refugee center in this neighborhood, many people disappeared from that area overnight. As a resident of this neighborhood, I set out to create a series of images documenting the traces of absent presences and passages embodied by discarded garments. Among the heterogeneity of the shots, one shot in particular caught my attention: a silhouette appearing in the shadows of a sweater. This emanating silhouette conjures the feeling of the former owner’s soul appearing as if still inhabiting the sweater. The title of this work refers to me wandering the streets in search of these abandoned garments, our relationship to our own existence and the wandering soul in the form of a shadowy silhouette.
